J. Curtis was born in the region of Paris. He is of British nationality and he grew up in the United Kingdom. He pursued studies in theatre, dance and French literature at an open school in Gordonstoun, Scotland.
Feeling he had exhausted his potential at the above-mentioned school, he relocated to his parents' farm in Zimbabwe at 16 years of age. It is during this African retreat that he discovered his passion for music and composing. Armed with his debut pieces only, he found a recording studio in Bulawayo; there he met fellow young musicians notably Gabs Fire with whom he worked extensively, composing and recording his first songs.
In 2006, he headed for Cape Town to undergo artistic training under the tutorship of McGregor. A fine and handsome young man, fascinated by the world of fashion from a very young age, J. Curtis was discovered by Modelling Agency Director, Alfa, who built up his Portfolio and introduced him to the world of modelling. Following this, he worked on an advertisement for the company SASOL which was widely distributed in South Africa for promotion of rugby. In this same vein he arranged one of his tracks in the studios with the South-African channel SABC.
In June 2007, having decided to follow his dream of becoming a renowned artist, he returned to Europe in the search for greener pastures and better opportunities. There he met the composer Guy Waku, with whom he has been working, composing and recording a three track single.
